Monitoring bicycle and pedestrian traffic is crucial for enhancing urban safety and promoting active transportation. Sydney Olympic Park has installed the MetroCount monitoring system at various access points across the suburb to monitor bikes, pedestrians and other active transport modes accurately and gather vital data on usage patterns, including traffic volumes and peak times.

The MetroCount monitoring system includes RidePod BP piezoelectric strips embedded in a cycle lane or shared path for data capture, as well as MTE and ATLYST software providing data analysis.
